Student Wellbeing

Student wellbeing and Pastoral Care at St Francis’ School is an expression of Christ’s care in our school community through commitment to the total wellbeing of each student.

The worth, dignity and uniqueness of every individual is recognised and respected. At St Francis’ School the emphasis on Catholic Values, underpinned by the School’s core principles of Respect, Responsibility, Belief and Belonging. All members of the school community have the right to be treated with respect and, for school staff and students, to teach and learn in a safe and supportive environment.

All staff at St Francis’ School undertake Response Ability Pathways or RAP training https://www.starr.org/training/youth/response-ability-pathway. RAP training is for educators, parents and other peer mentors. All those who work with young people need the ability to respond to their needs rather than react to their problems. RAP teaches skills to connect with young people in need, clarify problems, and restore bonds. Following Circle of Courage resilience principles, RAP addresses the need for Belonging, Mastery, Independence and Generosity.
